How to Hear God's Voice

How to Hear God's Voice

It’s interesting, the comments I get on my blog and podcast from unbelievers. Generally, they go something like this:

“Don’t waste my time with this—it’s all a bunch of nonsense.”

“Sad that you have to believe in fairy tales—don’t share them with me.”

These are examples of the tame comments. Some are much worse than these. I’ll leave those to your imagination.

I find it sad, when I read comments such as these, that there really are people who are COMPLETELY out of touch with the Kingdom of God. They only see what is here on this earth.

How to Be Part of the Greatest Adventure

Two weeks before Christmas, I heard a very thoughtful sermon preached by Pastor Kendell Harger of the Spring Green Community Church in Spring Green, Wisconsin. The sermon was part of a series on
“Hope Because..” and this one focused on Mary.

One of the key takeaways I had from the message is that because Mary trusted God, much was entrusted to her.

Svea Flood.

You’ve never heard of her.

I hadn’t either.

So often, we look at our lives and wonder if we have made, are making, or ever really will make a difference for Christ. Will Jesus look at us and say “Well done.”?

The answer for all but a few is that we simply do not know the impact our lives have on others.

The Cure for Anxiety

The Cure for Anxiety

One blessing that the pandemic brought to my life was the desire to listen to sermons from churches all across the country. I now have a list of church services I listen to—in addition to the local church I hope to attend again soon.

A particularly dynamic minister is Tim Dilena of Time Square Church in New York City. Recently, he preached a message on how to overcome anxiety, and there were points he made that I thought were profoundly simple, particularly memorable, and spot-on.

Recent surveys reveal that one in three Americans is experiencing anxiety. This number has skyrocketed under the stresses of the pandemic. Joblessness. Loneliness. Fear. These all feed anxiety. And, anxiety destroys joy.
